Cook, SCTC INSKIP, Preston, Lancashire

The successful candidate will become a member of a busy catering team. The responsibilities of the post are to assist the Catering Officer with the operational effectiveness of the catering department and with routine galley duties. Experience of working in a busy catering environment would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be organised, possess strong communication skills and be an excellent team worker with the ability to work unsupervised. City and Guilds 706/1 or NVQ Level 2 (Catering & Hospitality) or equivalent together with a Food Hygiene certificate is desirable, but not essential.

Cook/Coxswain TS JOHN JERWOOD, based Gosport

Applicants should have the requisite experience and ability to cook at sea to provide meals for the embarked crew, together with ordering and management of victualling stores. In addition, as Coxswain, duties cover the management of embarked cadets to ensure that both the training programme and ships routines are followed.

The ability to work effectively with permanent and relief crew members and young people is essential.

There are opportunities for prospective staff to undertake sea time in the vessel.

There is a generous annual leave allowance and the salary for the role will be disclosed on application. Food and accommodation is provided ashore (Fort Blockhouse) and afloat. Employees are eligible to join the employer’s voluntary contributory pension scheme (5% employee, 10% employer), and the organisations Private Medical Insurance scheme.
