The Marine Society College of the Sea (MSCoS) offers seafarers a route through which they may top up their HND or FD (Foundation Degree) into a
Bachelors degree or; for more senior officers with their Class 1 Certificate to top up to a
Masters degree by means of a programme that is entirely distance taught.
Rather than simply reinforcing seafarers’ professional skills and competencies, this innovative approach focuses on nurturing a learner’s analytical and evaluative skills. This is important, as it offers the learner a qualification whose worth is widely recognised and therefore transferable within and beyond the maritime sector.
These ground-breaking programmes don’t require attendance at a college, can be completed in a minimum of 8 months, are tailored to individual need, fully tutor-supported and aren’t dependent on access to the internet.
