The Marine Society

Membership of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) has provided vital support to professional seafarers across the country and around the world for more than 250 years. From the depths of the inner city to merchant ships ploughing across the oceans of the world, the organisation actively encourages self development, leadership training and an understanding of working with others
in a maritime environment.

The MSSC by its provision of educational
opportunities (through The College of the Sea), financial support for professional seafarers, expert advice and guidance, and a ships’ library service, enhances the well-being of those who go to sea and helps overcome the challenges faced by seafarers on account of their lifestyle.

Your support is of huge importance to us. In return for your assistance you will have the opportunity to meet like-minded people with an interest in helping the maritime community, attend fundraising events, support 14,000 Sea Cadets, visit naval establishments and experience the sea air blowing over the decks of our offshore vessels.

How can you support us?

A variety of options are offered to allow you to decide how you might like to support The Charity.

For an Annual Membership subscription (£25) you will be invited to the trafalgar Day parade, and receive, annually, two copies of Seafarer, a monthly electronic newsletter, an attractive lapel badge and an invitation to attend our Annual Court. Bronze Membership (single £37.50, joint £70) is more expansive. It includes Associate Membership of The Naval Club located in the heart of Mayfair, two invitations to the Offshore vessels for lunch, three invitations for you and a guest to attend Wardroom lunches with the Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps, and a five per cent concession on national fundraising events such as the prestigious Royalist Regatta. Silver Membership (single £62.50, joint £115) offers yet more benefits: the opportunity to dine with the Chief Executive Officer and a 10 per cent concession on fundraising events. The most distinguished level is Gold Membership (single £112.50 joint £210). For this you will receive all of the Silver benefits as well as a beautiful coffee table book with a maritime theme (worth £40), the opportunity to lunch with the Chairman of the Trustees and 15 per cent saving on fundraising events. You may wish to become a Life Member (£650), which offers all of the Gold membership advantages plus a 20 per cent concession at fundraising events and, if requested, the unusual option to have your ashes consigned to the sea.
