Head of Sea Cadets Training Delivery, based London, SE1 7JW

 

We are currently seeking to appoint a Head of Training Delivery to work as part of the lifelong learning team in our head office, located near Waterloo in London. This is a permanent full time position.

This is an exciting and challenging role which will require you to lead, inspire and manage a diverse and dispersed team of training professionals responsible for delivering or enabling delivery of training for our 14,000 young people and our 9,000 volunteers delivering and supporting the sea cadet experience.

The primary purpose of the role is to ensure all training delivery is optimised from unit to international level and across the UK to deliver the best possible experience for our young people supported by our volunteers. You will directly manage one training delivery officer, based at our head office, and the managers of our four national training centres, as well as having functional management responsibility for the 6 managers who manage delivery of training in our 6 areas UK-wide. The role is also responsible for some direct delivery and funded programmes for example BTEC and NCS.

The successful candidate should have:

  • a strong background in education and/or youth development
  • a strong track record of managing the delivery of training across multiple sites and varying levels
  • a strong track record of direct delivery of training programmes
  • excellent programme management skills, with the ability to work to time, quality and budget
  • the ability to generate, manage and interpret KPIs to help inform management decisions
  • the ability to work as a team, coaching and managing team members to achieve excellence
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • the ability to inspire others, think strategically, and be business focused
  • the ability to work with and motivate volunteers to support their training delivery work
