Training Development Officer - Youth Work/Development (Informal Education)

Contract:        Permanent

Hours:            Full Time

Location:        MSSC HQ London, SE1 7JW

Are you a remarkable, qualified youth and community worker/informal educator? Do you have experience of producing high quality training, with a focus on youth development, for young people and the adults working with them? Can you build lasting relationships and leverage support from volunteers across the UK?

If so, this could be the opportunity for you to join a youth development charity changing lives through the Sea Cadet Experience and volunteer training.

Our role: We are looking for an innovative course developer to create training for (and with) young people and the adults working with them.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the suitable candidate to support our vision to be the leading maritime charity for youth development and lifelong learning. Working within an in-house team and leveraging support from the wider Corps, you will produce training - ranging from ‘snackable’ e-content to accredited training pathways.

Who are we? We are a vibrant and growing charity delivering life changing nautical adventure and fun for young people through the Sea Cadets. We aim to give young people nationwide the best possible head start in life by building life skills to help provide a brighter future. Additionally our Marine Society College and Library make personal and professional development opportunities available to Seafarers, wherever they may be. This is an exciting time for the charity and we need top talent like you to come aboard and help us realise our goals and maximise our impact.

What we’re looking for You will need knowledge of, and expertise in, youth and community work practice and the educational theory that underpins the work. In addition, you will have the ability to translate this into useful and accessible packages of support and training for young people and adults. Ideally, you will be adept at mapping training content and pathways to enable accreditation or possess the potential to do so. An authentic relationship builder, you will demonstrate a clear ability and determination to carry projects through to completion and successful outcomes.

You will sit within our Life Long Learning team; working closely with the Head of Training Development, and you will play a fundamental role in driving forward our youth development activity.
