Sea Cadet Sessional Workers, Birmingham based (Externally Funded Project)

The Cadet Expansion Programme (CEP) is a Government supported initiative aimed at establishing 500 cadet units in schools by March 2020. Sea Cadets have committed to establishing 24 units across the UK by 2020 within this programme.

As part of this programme, we have launched a Sea Cadet CEP at Tilecross Academy, Birmingham. We are seeking two sessional workers to each work four hours per week during term time. The post holders will be required to support and assist a Dedicated Person and the local satellite unit with the establishment, development and growth of Cadets operating within and as part of the host school to ensure the unit is properly established.

Sessional workers will be contracted to deliver a session in the school/ Birmingham Stirling unit every Tuesday from 3:00pm – 6:00pm term time only (times to be a little flexible depending on offsite activity) with the remaining contracted hours spent on preparation and other administration tasks. This is a fixed term contract from Tuesday 7th May 2019 for 6 months, with potential for longer term.

Salary will be £10.66 + £1.29 holiday pay.

The post holder will ideally be an existing uniformed adult volunteer instructor, or had recent experience of being a uniformed adult volunteer instructor within the Sea Cadets Corps and must hold an IM or L&D equivalent.

All successful applicants will be required to hold a current enhanced DBS certificate. Please note that some schools have different DBS requirements to MSSC and candidates may be required to pass a DBS check with the school or present their Sea Cadets DBS certificate to the school for approval before appointment.
