Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a leading maritime charity in lifelong learning and personal development and is the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation engaging some 15,000 young people over 400 Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK.  The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.

We are looking for an experienced Regional Finance Manager who can take ownership of coordinating the charity’s financial activities in their region (our London, Eastern and North West Areas ; offices are in London, RAF Cranwell and Liverpool respectively). This role would involve working with the regional teams and our other Regional Finance Manager to ensure consistent application of financial procedures across our UK regions, support our colleagues in HQ financial management and providing assistance with financial queries.

This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in finance, sound IT proficiency, the experience to build and maintain strong relationships, strong decision making skills and is prepared to undertake travel within the UK (roughly 30% of the role).

Additional experience and qualities needed for this role is -

  • Experience of providing financial support/advice to colleagues with a non-finance background
  • A proven ability to work with and motivate teams
  • An excellent communicator able to support our colleagues working in different offices around the country
  • The ability to plan, coordinate and interpret financial data from the regional offices
  • A can do attitude and willingness to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in
  • A professional, calm approach who can role model our values
