Seasonal Yacht Mate – Sea Cadet Rustler Yachts

Based in Gosport, PO12 2AB

Salary; £16,000 per annum pro rata (£13,333 for the 10 month duration of the contract)

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the nation’s largest maritime charity and the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation comprising some 400 or so volunteer Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to foster good citizenship in the community.

We are seeking to appoint a seasonal Mate for the two Offshore yachts, TS City of London and TS Sir Stelios. The role is in support of the permanent Skippers providing continuity of staffing when they are on leave. The Mate will be required to move between the two yachts, invariably sailing with the relief Skipper. He/she should be qualified to at least RYA Day Skipper Practical level and be willing to participate in all aspects of training and vessel management, including cooking and cleaning.

This appointment will commence on 18 February 2019, with an end date of 29 November 2019 and includes a generous leave allowance.

Applicants should either hold a current Seafarer Medical Certificate (ML5/ENG1), or be willing to obtain one. Basic Safety Training Courses (unless already held) will be undertaken before the season commences.
