Contract: Full time, Permanent.

Salary: £25,000

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the nation’s largest maritime charity and the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation comprising some 400 or so volunteer Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK.  The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to foster good citizenship in the community.

We are seeking to appoint a Yacht Skipper to take Command of one of the Sea Cadets new Rustler 42 yacht, TS Sir Stelios.  The primary task of the Skipper is the safe operation of all aspects of the Yacht’s programme, and maintenance of her equipment, with a key responsibility being the safety and wellbeing of the embarked cadets and staff.

The ability to work effectively with young people as well as the other adult staff is essential.

There is a generous annual leave allowance of 90 days. Employees are eligible to join the employer’s voluntary contributory pension scheme (5% employee, 10% employer), and the MSSC private medical insurance scheme.

This appointment will commence as convenient between November 2019 and January 2020.

Applicants should either hold a current Seafarer Medical Certificate (ML5/ENG1), or be willing to obtain one.
