Supporting our Trans, Intersex and Non-Binary Cadets and Volunteers and those who volunteer with them

We know how difficult and confusing the news surrounding the Supreme Court ruling could be for the Trans Community and their allies.

At Sea Cadets we want to reassure you we see you, and we are here to welcome and support you in being a part of our Sea Cadets family.

We will be taking the time to fully assess the ruling and understand what it means legally and operationally for our charity. Sea Cadets will remain inclusive and welcoming for all and our current policies and guidance remain in effect.

We do want to remind you that the supreme court did reinforce the fact that the Equality Act still protects trans and non-binary people against both direct and indirect discrimination as well as harassment, and will continue to do so.

Our Safeguarding Team are also here to listen. If you experience or witness any form of discrimination - including homophobia or transphobia - please reach out. We're here to help.

Our partners at The Proud Trust, SchoolsOUT and LGBT+ History Month are there to offer additional support if required.  The proud trust has a great resource for young people and volunteers working with the trans and LGBTQIA+ communities here:

We will continue to update this page as the matter and our response progress.
